[ changing site styles, etc. ]
In case people didn't see this (because buried on page 3 of the post)- for people who don't like the basic site style of DW and want to change it, here are links collated by
majorshipper to make it look better.
Most of them were covered in that comment, but this is a link to all the Stylish userstyles for Dreamwdith (the custom icons in particular are pretty nice) and if you're interested in more then these are the userscripts that exist. You'll need Greasemonkey to use them in Firefox, but they should be easy to install with no other extentions for Chrome.
As for journal styles, for people with new ones, Dreamwidth layouts aren't bad but they are admittedly pretty limited. Again for people who are interested in setting up stuff but don't know how / haven't seen it, here's a tutorial on how to implement Livejournal layouts into Dreamwidth with Layers so that you can use the same layouts that you had there. It works pretty well!
More resources for general purposes were also collected by
vickyblueeyez in this comment, so do check that out if you haven't yet.
That's all, I hope you have a good day!

P.S.: Also, even if you already have, you might want to check out the Community Rec Post made on FS itself again; it's got a ton of good recs that are all categorised, and is a nice way to start getting around communities. More are still being added!
