[ using lj juggler / lj login ]
I'm sure it's pretty obvious by now that this is a sock journal! (If the username being 'sockymcsockerson' didn't give it away, I'm really not sure what else would.) The thing is, since it's not my main account, I end up logging in and out of various journals on a fairly regular basis. This used to be pretty tiring, and sometimes I'd mix up my journals and passwords. I haven't had to deal with this issue for a while, though, which brings us to today's short guide to managing multiple journals. This'll be a quick one, since it's mostly 3rd party apps and extentions; to wit, LJ Account Juggler for Chrome and LJ Login for Firefox! Which, despite their names, actually work totally well with Dreamwidth, Insanejournal, Inksome and other sites.
(Also, I'm sorry, but I don't know of any equivalents for Safari or IE or Opera. If you use those browsers and know of something that could help, do leave a comment about it, that'd be really great.)
For Chrome Users
Let's start with LJ Account Juggler, which can be installed just by clicking on the link, hitting the install button to the upper right, and then accepting the permissions for that. How it works is basically like this:

Next to your address bar, there'll be a little white button like so. Click on it, and you'll get the dropdown menu. As you can see, LJ Juggler sorts out Dreamwidth and LJ accounts and highlights the ones you're logged in to in green.
Changing accounts is as simple as clicking on the username you want to be logged in as, then refreshing the page. That's really all there is to it.
As for adding or removing accounts, that's fairly straightforward as well. Just click on the red link, and it'll take you to a tab where the interface to use the app displays. From there, just select what site you want from the drop down menu, enter in your username and password, and click add account. The one you've added will then show up in the list, like so. That's all there is to it, really.
For Firefox Users
With this browser, it's a little different. We'll be using LJ Login, instead, which can be accessed over here. Just click the link where it says to install it, and if all goes well (and it should, hopefully- also, don't forget to enable the extension if nothing shows up), you'll end up with a little bar in the bottom right of the corner, like this. As you can see, I've got quite a number of LJs saved in Firefox, and when I click on the bar, they display like that.
In order to get Dreamwidth accounts to show up, though, we have to do a little more. First, select the Preferences option. A box should pop up. All you've got to do now is to click the check box for Dreamwidth under the 'Enabled LJcode Sites' option.
After closing the box, a second login thing should appear directly next to the first one you had for Livejournal. Click that, go to 'Log in as...', and enter your username and password in the popup. Don't forget to check the box to Use Password Manager to remember the password! This step is important.
Once you're done with that, you should be logged in, with your Dreamwidth username displaying in red right next to whatever you're logged in to on LJ.
This is what it should be like! And that's really all there is to it. You can continue adding as many accounts as you'd like. One note about LJ Login, though- the username you first enter will stay mapped to your account even if you rename your journal. For instance, if I were to change my username to something like
doodymcdooderson, I could log in as that under LJ Login but it'd still show me as
sockymcsockerson, since that was the name that the account was first mapped to.
Changing this is easy, though! Just go to Preferences again, and select the UIDs/Accounts tab on the bottom half. From there, you can change the display name of the account, as well as the password (if for some reason you need that changed).
You should also note that while LJ Juggler automatically keeps you logged in even if you close and re-open Chrome, LJ Login does not do the same thing. If you want to make your sessions more permanant, the Login Sessions tab is the one for you! The first dropdown menu there will allow you to set your login as permanant, or always log you in to a particular account that you have saved whenever you start up Firefox.
The second tab (which you can't see in the picture) then can be used to let Firefox automatically load either your journal, your F-list, the update journal page or just reload the current page so you register as logged in once you select what username you'd like to use.
Both of these are really useful tools that aren't hard to use at all and make it much faster for people who have multiple accounts to get around with them.

And with all that said and done, I hope some of you might've found this simple guide handy.

Is there any way to get your passwords off of your LJ Juggler account? There's no other way I can get it and I can't remember for the life of me what it is, but it's saved on my LJ Juggler...
